Elton John recently told
Parade magazine that he believes Jesus was gay.
The entire quote read:
"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East -- you're as good as dead."
So, is Elton saying that only gay people are intelligent, loving and forgiving? He mentions no other reasoning for the gay comment.
In a previous interview, Elton said if it were up to him, he'd ban religion completely.
“Religion promotes hatred and spite against gays," he told the
Observer's Music Monthly magazine in 2006. “From my point of view, I would ban religion completely."
Good thing it isn't up to him. Stick to music Elton.
