Erica and the Soulshine Band will perform covers at Supper Club Saturday.
The name “Erica and the Soulshine Band” really conjures up images of Polyphonic Spree-like robed figures jamming to spaced out hippie rock.
But in reality, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Ms. Erica Chambers, a delightful pixie of a front woman with the voice of a diva twice her size, leads the cover group through a gauntlet of upbeat, fan-favorite pop songs ranging everywhere from ‘70s soul to modern hits by Rihanna.
Having formed a little over a year ago, the Soulshine Band - which consists of Peanut (drums) and brother Eric (guitar) and Ridgely (keyboards) - have developed a rabid fan following, who love the group’s high-energy, sexy performances, which can stretch late into the evening.
As a tireless, high-spirited performer, Erica Chambers can be found many nights and weekends on the road, typically playing three to four shows a week with the Soulshine Band. While many of the Birmingham natives’ gigs are primarily in the Magic City, they also plays the surrounding areas and have begun playing a few dates out of state.
The group hosts many videos on YouTube, where you can catch live performances as well as Chambers’ interviews with local media. Among her Internet highlights, the Bill Wither’s hit and bar band favorite, “Use Me” stands out, as the group slows it down, making it sexier and slinkier.
