“A fusion of style,” is how lead singer/guitarist Dave Norwood describes his new band The Bandar-Log. The band, which also consists of John McMeans on bass and Sam Whigham on drums, banjo and mandolin, formed about six months ago. Norwood and McMeans both deliver food at Willie’s Wings and made a delivery one night that changed their musical fate.
“We delivered food to Sam one night and saw that he had a lot of different musical instruments,” Norwood said. “So we sat down and talked to him and threw out the idea of starting a band.”
Six months later, and the guys are about to debut their sound in public for the first time. Norwood said the band plays a mix of covers and originals. The originals are a mix of funk and folk rock with a strong emphasis on songwriting and structure, while the covers range from Bob Dylan to The White Stripes.
The Bander-Log has composed 11 original songs and are looking to head to the studio to record their debut album soon. For a music sample, concert dates and more about the band, visit their MySpace page at myspace.com/thebandarlog.
