Jimbobwe funked up Bourbon Street Friday night.

Jimbobwe jammed funk into euphoria Friday night at Bourbon Street, while the jam sessions and harmonic energy clutched the audience. Powerful guitar riffs followed in closely with technical drum solos and detailed vocals while Jimbobwe played a committed show.

With Jesse White on guitar/vocals, Rob Cochran on bass/vocals, Justin Folton on drums/vocals, and Blake Catrair on boards/vocals, Jimbobwe maintained all night with originals and covers. A jam band that plays funk and rock, the originality shows up in their music style and performance.

Funk-style jams with long guitar riffs, the song titled “Jimbobwe” is a note-worthy, explosive experience. Another nice feelin’ tune is a techno-styled drum session called “Japanese Princess” that just makes you want to chill and experience the music.

The band lightened things up for a little bit towards the middle of the show with “Godzilla” by Blue Oyster Cult, and ended the show with Rick James’s “Super Freak.”

Check out the band’s next Bourbon Street show this Saturday, Sept. 6. For more on the band, visit myspace.com/jimbobwemusic
