The Findley Brothers play Fat Daddy’s on a regular basis and perform rock covers and originals.
Taking the neon-lit stage of Fat Daddy’s on Thursday night, the Findley brothers, Derek and Jason, had no problem keeping all eyes and ears on them.
With no set list on stage, the brothers played off each other and felt their way into each song with flawless harmony and astounding guitar skills on freshly strung guitars.
The Findley’s took turns singing lead to popular rock covers that captivated the audience. The bar was occupied with friends and fans of the Findley’s, who tapped their feet, drank their beer and sang along to nearly every song the band performed.
The duo performed songs that ranged from originals to popular radio hits. Derek rocked out covers by the bands Crossfade and Breakin Benjamin while Jason turned to another genre, singing covers like “Meet Virginia” and “Secrets” by Maroon Five.
Derek, who is a talented songwriter, performed one of his bluesy originals entitled “Lies” as his brother backed him up with perfect harmony and lead guitar.
Because of their frequent gigs at Fat Daddy’s and the Auburn Oyster Bar, the band has built a dedicated fan base who participated by requesting songs for the band to perform.
Derek, former member of the band The Last Episode, has been playing in the Auburn music scene for 10 years. Jason, his younger brother, has recently been introduced to playing music for an audience. Jason admits that Derek’s impressive guitar skills and passion for music were his inspiration to begin playing music.
The Findley’s are different than any other band in Auburn. The originality of their song selection and variety of genre puts them over the bar and makes them one of Auburn’s must-see duos.
