Zazu Eclectic Eatery recently opened at 149 E. Magnolia Ave., in the space that once housed Buffalo’s. The brainchild of chef and owner Graham Hage, Zazu offers a wide array of specialty dishes and fine wines.
Zazu opened its doors last August on Hwy. 14, but when offered the chance to move downtown took it.
“We’ve always had positive reviews from the beginning,” said General Manager Johnny Cauthen. “But there was a lack of walk-in traffic due to the location. Right now we’re in the middle of everything, sort of the center of Auburn.”
The restaurant opened its doors downtown on Aug. 28. It has been completely renovated and is larger. The restaurant went from a staff of eight to nearly 30.
Specializing in tender Angus steaks and fresh seafood that is delivered nightly from Hawaii, Zazu’s menu presents an assortment of both classic and original dining options. Menu items include jumbo lump crab cakes, andouille & crawfish stuffed lobster, filet mignon, cranberry wild rice stuffed quail, almond & truffle crusted mahi mahi, Hawaiian snapper and much more. Entrée prices begin at $18. Soups, salads and appetizers start at $6.
One difference from the old location is that Zazu now offers lunch specials. Cauthen said that the lunch menu is a lot different from the dinner menu and ranges from about $8.
Zazu offers a full bar, with 10 beers on tap, and has an extensive wine selection. On Wednesdays buy a bottle of wine for half price with the purchase of an entrée.
Zazu is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Dinner hours are Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more, visit
