Six in a row

It wasn’t pretty or easy, but the Auburn Tigers won the Iron Bowl for the sixth straight year Saturday night. With the win, the Tigers did something neither team has done since Alabama won nine straight Iron Bowls. Auburn’s win establishes the second longest winning streak by either team in this historic rivalry.
Like any rivalry game, this one was a very physical and highly contested game. Auburn jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but seemed to hit a wall in the second quarter.
“We struggled the second quarter,“ said Auburn Head Coach Tommy Tuberville. “All year long at one quarter or another we had problems. We put up 10 quick points and in the second quarter we put our defense back to the wall a couple of times with an interception and a big kickoff return.“
While the Tigers’ offense struggled in the second quarter, Alabama’s offense found its rhythm and scored the Tide’s only touchdown.
The third quarter was a battle of the defenses. Both defenses held the opposing offenses to under 50 total yards. Couple that with poor special teams plays from both teams - both kickers missed field goals - and the Tigers headed to the fourth quarter with a slim three-point lead. The Tigers took the lead on an impressive scoring drive mid-way through the fourth quarter and never looked back.
Summing up his place in Auburn’s Iron Bowl History, senior quarterback Brandon Cox said, “Being in the same category as Jason Campbell and never losing to Alabama, us seniors, we never lost, it feels awesome. To have never lost to that team, you can’t get any better than that.“

Six years in a row, and it never gets old.

Very classy. That’s why Auburn is not respected nationally. Auburn is only a pretender and the only expectations is beating their instate rivals. The Saban dynasty is only beginning and sadly, Auburn will once again be Bama’s little sister. 38-33-1…When’s the last time you guys did something on a national level? 50 years ago isn’t much to be celebrating.

It hurts doesn’t it. Whatever you need to tell yourself to make it all better is fine with us. We’ll see you at the next Iron Bowl.

Take your beating like a man and stop whining. I should expect it though from a Bama fan.

Can you not comprehend that this is merely a mockery of your own self-adulatory cheer that you hold so dearly as your own warped tradition? Or can you not even find Tuscaloosa on a map?

Still living in the past? Bear Bryant and Elvis were both seen in Birmingham last weekend…still dragging that 38-33-1? Want to recount the past 10 years? Probation…Dubose sex scandal w/ secretary…Franchione living UA for Texas A&M;( he said no too many rednecks there and better than Bama)...Price sex scandal…bookgate…players arrested at the Strip…so there is your past…continue living in the past and I live for the present ...new year, new hand, new fingers…6 in a row…Semper Fi and War Eagle

As a 3 time AU graduate, I was beyond THRILLED to see the 6th straight Iron Bowl victory. This rivalry is older than anyone responding to this video and will continue well into the future of our children and grandchildren. It is what makes the state of Alabama GREAT in the SEC. This game is about heart; let’s face it Bama fans… it seems as if you’ve lost your heart. Don’t blame us for having the EXACT SAME REACTION you all would have. I (along with all my fellow AU grads and fans) love and respect this rivalry for what it is and will continue to consider you a formidable opponent. It is just sad that what so many Bama fans dished out for so many years (yawn), you just can’t accept for what it is- a passionate rivalry between two truly gifted football programs.

As for next year, we’ll see you in Tuscaloosa- and lets see if YOUR behavior is “classy” IF you when.

WAR DAMN EAGLE!

As an Auburn fan who lived through many years of being defeated by Bama, I’ll never forget those days. The Auburn Spirit is alive and well, and we will continue support our athletes and students in a manner respective of the Creed we live by. Alabama cannot change Auburn, and will fail miserably with any effort to alter our sense of reality. Arrogance is not what we are about. We are about family and true love of our school, and not some figment of the imagination. Reality is we have each other, while bammers have an empty rhetoric that has long been buried.

Funny thing is even on a bad year
Auburn still beats Bama.

You won’t find any fans that are more *real* or loyal than Auburn Fans.  I remember going to the Iron Bowl when it was played for the first time in Auburn in 1989.  Bama was ranked #2 and no one thought we had a chance.  Well, guess what?  The Tide Dyed that day.

And then as Auburn turned its program around, the fair weather Tide fans (*crossover fans*, we called ‘em) started saying they saw the light.  They came to our stadium proclaiming themselves to be true Orange ‘n Blue, still sitting on their Bama seat cushions.  What a pathetic joke.

I grew up in Alabama during the years when it was tuff being a Tiger, when we suffered that long, miserable drive back from Legion Field after yet another loss, with our car still proudly decorated with pawprints and streamers and still loving our team.  “War Eagle Anyhow” was what we’d say.  We’ve always had class.

And then sending my daughter to school in kindergaten on Spirit Day dressed in our school colors and her coming home in tears:  “Mom, please don’t make me wear this again; it makes the other kids hate me.“

Yes, this is sweet.  *Class* will always win out.

War Eagle, War Eagle, War Eagle.  Win or lose, the best school in Alabama will always be on the Plains.

Joey, Joey, Joey,

You want to talk about catching up?  How about this AU v. UAT series record:

15-10 over the last 25 years
12-8 over the last 20 years
10-5 over the last 15 years
7-3 over the last 10 years
5-0 over the last 5 years

Can you spot the trend, Joey?

I would be ashamed of my school for playing another school’s song—typical of Auburn and Tennessee…very classless. It’s stunts like these that have taken sportsmanship out of college football.

Oh-yes! 38-33-1…12 national championships…so much for bama fans to remember.
I believe I read somewhere when I was completing my undergraduate work at Auburn that the Roman Empire once ruled Europe, too.
Ancient history!
Isn’t it interesting how many of these bama folks never attended college or have even been to Tuscaloosa?
