Besides the excitable line up of the all-star musicians that created the backdrop for “The Fall,” the fourth studio album from Blue Note Records’ biggest seller, the album excels through its adventurous experimentation. Although Jones has drifted further and further from traditional jazz stylings over her last few albums, she has managed to maintain the sultry sound that made her previous work so captivating. “The Fall” also features some neat co-writing credits from indie heroes such as Ryan Adams and Will Sheff (of Okkervil River).
