The Internet seems to be polluted with classified ads. Thanks to the innovative folks at 1980s-born Craigslist.com, anyone can sell almost anything over the Web now.

Treading through the digital classified wasteland isn’t always easy, and it’s even more difficult to find a site that’s point-and-click and viola - there’s the perfect item you’ve been looking for. Even when you do find that perfect item, you will almost always have to pay a shipping cost.

Now there is a new, local free classified site, TheFreeWay.com. No, it’s not anything completely revolutionary that you haven’t seen before. It’s still an online classified site, but it’s made for Auburn, it’s run by people in Auburn and it hosts items for sale right here on the Plains. It’s also a place to find local jobs, real estate and sometimes rare items.

“The goal of TheFreeWay.com is to allow local people to buy and sell local merchandise without having to worry about the people they are doing business with,” said Sam Williams, TheFreeWay.com project coordinator. “We are trying to take the things that people like about other online classified sites and pull them all together, while leaving out the parts that people hate.”

Unlike Craigslist.com and similar sites, TheFreeWay.com is ready to support you locally, connecting the community online. Since real people are there to police TheFreeWay.com, the fear of the inevitable spam assault isn’t necessary.
TheFreeWay.com is continually updated with blog posts, events, pictures and other interactive avenues. The blogs pepper the site with information with every thing from how to place an ad, to how to get in touch with your crafty side.
“With our blogs and other content, we try to give people a reason to think about how they can reuse and repurpose items that they find on TheFreeWay.com, share tips and tricks for buying and selling, and have a few laughs along the way,” said Ashley Robertson, the site’s marketing coordinator.

And the site is free to use. If you have any questions that aren’t answered in the blogs, you can just send an email or call and get in touch with a real live person that will give you the right directions to where you want to be.
