DreamScapes, an eclectic clothing and alternative accessory store, opened Monday in the Winn-Dixie shopping center on South College Street next to World Gym. The shop offers everything from incense and supplies for alternative religions to tobacco accessories and jewelry.

Stephen Bradford, owner, said he has owned a shop similar to this since 1991 in Albany, Ga.

“I knew this town needed this type of store,” Bradford said. “I had friends asking me to come to this area. We finally put it all together, found a site and opened this up.”

The store will feature a lot of the same items as his other store, BioBuzz, Bradford said.

“Its stuff that you can’t normally find,” Bradford said. “There is no other store like this around here—not in Montgomery, not anywhere else.”

Items includes more than 500 types of incense, including types hand rolled by the owners themselves. The store also features clove cigarettes, and plans on selling shisha and hookah accessories.

Manager Rodney Hall said the store will cater to a lot of alternative religions that are overlooked in the local market.

“No one is around to pick up the fringe business,” Hall said. “There are a lot of people in the community that can’t get things required to practice their religion.”
Bradford said the grand opening is set for Oct. 31, and added that the store has just opened and the inventory will be growing slowly each week. The store also plans to offer workshops on various topics sometime soon.

“We want to know what our patrons want and what they would like to see sold here,” Bradford said. “We are looking to them to help usbuild this into what they want it to be.”

DreamScapes is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. To find out more, visit the store’s Web site, dreamscapesauburn.com.
