Don’t let the name fool you, The Worsties could be one of the best bands who will play in Auburn in a long time.

Of course, the word “best” is entirely subjective so let me break down The Worsties’ sound for you. Imagine the loud, arena-rock styles of AC/DC or Smashing Pumpkins mixed with the moodiness of Seattle grunge. Then add in a singer with the attitude and thrashing ability of Joan Jett or Lemmy from Motörhead and you have The Worsties. Is this statement hyperbolic? Yes. But is it also accurate? Absolutely.

I guess what I’m trying to get at here is The Worsties rock, plain and simple. Singer Anna “Madame Worsty” Worstell holds nothing back with her powerful, hard-rock vocals that are almost impossible to ignore. Should you be able to pull your attention from Madame Worsty for a single moment, guitarist Jesse “Worsty” Worstell will wow you with plenty of head-banging power chords and thrash riffs. And don’t forget Jairo “El Guapo” Ruiz and Nathan “Four to the Floor” Shelton keeping the heavy rhythms on bass and drums, respectively.

Basically, all you need to know about The Worsties is that their music has just as much personality as their nicknames. The Worsties are nostalgic for all of the right bands and are still able to add their own style to everything they do. They will definitely put a smile on your face and, hopefully, an ache in your neck the next morning.

So if you think you’re ready to rock, go see The Worsties at Indiepaloozaroo at The Independent on Jan., 15. Preview The Worsties on their Web site at theworsties.com.
