The Reverend Horton Heat is back after four years with “Laughin’ and Cryin’ With The Reverend Horton Heat.”

The Reverend Horton Heat has been called the greatest rock-country-punkabilly group of this generation. His music has rocked us, he’s made us laugh and cry with his lyrics, and his live shows are some of the wildest performances you’ll ever see.

Now the Reverend is back after a four-year hiatus with a new album appropriately titled “Laughin’ and Cryin’ With The Reverend Horton Heat.” He does not disappoint in the least. The album leans toward the hard-drinking, hard-driving “billy” side of rockabilly, with odes to the good life on songs like “Drinkin’ and Smokin’ Cigarettes,” “Rural Point of View,” and “There’s A Little Bit of Everything In Texas,” lounge love songs like “Crazy Ex-Boyfriend,” and comical takes on family life such as “Please Don’t Take The Baby To The Liquor Store” and “Just Let Me Hold My Paycheck.” He even shows off his Rev-style country guitar wizardry on the future classic “Oh By Jingo!”

With the assistance of his great band, Jimbo Wallace on upright bass, Paul Simmons on drums, and Tim Alexander on piano, accordion and bajo sexto, the Reverend turns up the heat and cooks throughout this fine album. His great sense of humor shines in tunes like “Aw, The Humanity,” “Death Metal Guys,” and “Beer Holder,” and tugs at the heartstrings with tunes like “River Ran Dry” and “Oh God/Doesn’t Work In Vegas.”

Without a doubt, Reverend Horton Heat’s new album will leave you “Laughin’ and Cryin’”!
