Nearly two years after his stint as a finalist on American Idol, Rockwall’s Jason Castro offers us his debut studio album, an earnest folk-pop effort both sunny and sincere.
You can hear the Ray LaMontagne and Jack Johnson influences, but it’s Castro’s easygoing demeanor that makes tracks such as “Closer,” “Love Uncompromised,” “That’s What I’m Here For” and “Let's Just Fall in Love Again” seem so instantly familiar. One listen and it’s as if you’ve known Castro for years. He’s an affable guy that makes feel-good music. There’s nothing wrong with that.
