The Auburn Tigers, fresh off of a 17-6 victory over the Florida Gators, head to Baton Rouge, La,. on Saturday to take on the LSU Tigers. The game will be televised by CBS at 2:30 p.m.

Auburn (5-2, 3-1) will have its hands full as it prepares to battle the nation’s No. 1 team.

LSU moved to 7-0 this season after crushing the Tennessee Volunteers 38-7 on Saturday.

LSU has made a habit of blowing out its opponents this season, winning by an average of 21 points per game. This, in large part, is due to the success of the LSU defense, which ranks No. 4 in the nation in yards allowed per game.

The Auburn defense has made dramatic progress in recent weeks, starting with its win over South Carolina, and looks to derail LSU’s hopes of a National Title.

Corey Lemonier, and the rest of the Auburn defensive line, need to continue their high level of play and maintain pressure on the quarterback while only rushing four. Lemonier led the team in tackles against the Gators.

LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee has not played spectacular this season, but has done an excellent job of protecting the football and managing the game. Lee has thrown only one interception to 10 touchdowns this season, and has completed 61 percent of his passes.

LSU is a run dominant team, opting to run 319 times to 150 pass attempts this season. Holding sophomore running back Spencer Ware on first and second down is key. If the Auburn defense can force third and long situations, the defensive line can have an opportunity to continue making big plays and force Lee into making mistakes.

Auburn quarterback Clint Moseley, who played well in the second half against Florida, will have one of the nation’s top defenses across from him on Saturday.

LSU ranks No. 8 in the nation on rush defense, and will focus on containing running backs Michael Dyer and Onterrio McCalebb.

Moseley may have more help this Saturday than last week, as number one receiver Emory Blake could return to the lineup after missing the last two games with an injury.

Auburn’s win against Florida was the most balanced game of the season for the Tigers. Auburn did not commit any turnovers and held the Gators to just 2.2 yards per carry. Florida was sacked four times and completed just over 50 percent of their passes.

For Auburn, three quarterbacks threw a pass. Moseley, Barrett Trotter and freshman quarterback Kiehl Frazer combined for 7 for 16 passing, 123 yards and a touchdown.

Dyer had 23 carries for 73 yards, McCalebb carried the ball 10 times for 43 yards, including a 14 yard touchdown run, and Fazier added 41 yards on the ground with eight carries.

The defense held the Gators to under 200 total yards, kept them out of the end zone and held them to just three for 13 on third down conversions.

The Gators also had three turnovers, including a muffed punt that lead to the game sealing field goal, which covered some of the major mistakes by Auburn.

The Tigers missed two field goals, had seven penalties for 79 yards and converted only one of their 13 third down attempts.

If the Tigers can correct the miscues from last week’s game, Auburn will be able to go into Baton Rouge and give the No. 1 team a run for its money.
