A new shopping and entertainment destination will soon be coming to Opelika.  “Celebrate Alabama,“ a 535-acre development, will include a variety of stores and restaurants as well as a hotel with an indoor water park and other attractions.  According to developers, there are also plans in the works to build a drive-in movie theater.  There will also be statues of Alabama’s heroes, from Rosa Parks to Shug Jordan, interspersed within the development. The company in charge of development, Silver Companies, has had experience with this type of development before.  “Celebrate Virginia” was built in Fredericksburg, Va. and CEO Larry Silver said the destination had a lot of success and brought a lot of growth to the area - over one billion dollars worth, according to release put out by the company.  Silver said the project is expected to break ground at the beginning of next year and that the first businesses are expected to arrive in the next 24 months.
