Colbie Caillat “Breakthrough”
Standouts - “I Won’t,” “Begin Again,” “Breakin’ at the Cracks”

After the success of her 2007 debut, “Coco,” 24-year-old California songbird Colbie Caillat retreated back to her writing, composing 70 or so tunes for her second album. Of those, 12 made the final cut that became “Breakthrough.” The album features co-writing appearances by a handful of successful songwriters, including “American Idol” judge, Kara DioGuardi. As an album, the tunes can become fairly redundant, but as singles, many shine as well crafted pop love songs. More of an addition to her catalogue than an actual breakthrough album.
