Since Nov. 4, there has been a new name in town for certain connoisseurs of smoke and drink: Cigar & Fine Spirits.

Owned and operated by partners Bobby Greenawalt and Jeff Julian, the newly-opened store offers a large selection of liquors and cigars.

“We have a high selection of upscale, high-end liquor,” said Greenawalt. “But we also have your basic liquors.”

There is no slouching in the cigar department, either, with a walk-in humidor lined with cigar boxes.

“We offer everything and anything from CAO, Rocky Patel, Padron and Arturo Fuente,” Greenawalt said. “We have a huge selection of cigars.”

The combination of liquor store, cigar shop and lounge adds more than just a well-placed liquor store to the area.

Cigar & Fine Spirits separates itself from basic liquor store, selling mixers from Coca Cola to orange juice, even selling ice.

“You can really make this a one-stop shop,” said Greenawalt.

The store’s prize bottle is a Glenmorangie Pride 1981 single malt scotch—the only one in Alabama and one of only 100 in the U.S.

The plan is to have an auction for the bottle with a portion of the proceeds, which could be higher than $4,000, going to charity.

Another aspect Julian and Greenawalt are adding is tastings. Pairing with Christine’s Gourmet Steak and Wine to supply full meals, they plan to have tastings of liquors and cigars, accompanied by meals.
"It's going to end up being where we pretty much have some sort of tasting every week," Greenawalt said.

Cigar & Fine Spirits is located at 1849 Ogletree Road, and open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Every day, happy hour is from 3 to 7 p.m., with $1 off any drink, a deal for a free cigar with the purchase of three, and a 5 percent discount when buying three or more bottles of liquor.
