The Event Center Downtown will host its 2nd Annual BBQ and Brewfest on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. until midnight. Guests will have the opportunity to try more than 30 different types of beer and enjoy barbeque provided by Price’s Barbeque House.

Lisa Beck, owner of The Event Center, said last year’s festival was a major success and drew a crowd of at least 450 people.

“I’ve heard a lot of people talking about it throughout the year,” Beck said. “So I expect even more people will attend this year.”

Some of the beers they will serve this year include Denver Pale Ale, Hoss, India Pale Ale, Karma Belgian Pale Ale and Hercules Double IPA.

They will also serve products by Back Forty Beer Co., which was founded in 2009 by Auburn alumni Jason Wilson and Zach Folmer.

Beck said they will also serve products by Gordon Biersch, Red Brick and Late Harvest, among many others.

One great thing about the festival, Beck said, is that it appeals to a diverse group of people.

“We had people ranging from 21 to 85 years old last year,” Beck said. “We saw lots of people bring in their friends and families, and one person even celebrated his 21st birthday.”

The evening’s entertainment will be provided by the bands GLOW and The Good Doctor, who both performed the previous year.

“Last year we had five bands playing, which ended up being too much,” Beck said. “So when we decided bring back two crowd favorites, we stuck with bands that people will dance to.”

The beer tasting will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. and the bands will perform until midnight. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at The Event Center.

“There will be lots of really good beer and barbecue to try, and it’ll be in a fun atmosphere,” Beck said. “People loved coming here. It’s going to be lots of fun.”
