Auburn's All-SEC running back Mike Dyer has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules, an Auburn University official confirmed Sunday.

He will not play against Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve against Virginia.

Dyer was selected an All-SEC back by both the Associated Press and league coaches for his 1,242-yard, 10-touchdown season.

He finished the regular season second in the SEC in rushing yards behind Heisman Trophy finalist and Alabama running back Trent Richardson. Richardson finished third in the Heisman voting Saturday night in New York.

In just two seasons on the Plains, Dyer has rushed for 2,335 yards and is 10th on Auburn's all-time career rushing list.

Auburn opens bowl practice Monday evening.

Onterio McCalebb and Tre Mason are expected to fill the void left by the 2010 BCS National Championship game offensive MVP.

McCalebb and Mason are the only other two running backs to record carries this season.

McCalebb is second on the team in rushing with 532 yards on 102 carries and four touchdowns. He is also second on the team in receptions with 30 for 219 yards and a score.

Mason, a true freshman who also has a kickoff return for a touchdown, has 97 yards on 19 carries.
