“Lay It Down” marks Green’s third album for Blue Note Records, and is already being lauded as one of the best albums of 2008. And although the 62-year-old R&B singer may have aged a little since his debut in the late ‘60s, his new collection of songs is evidence that he still has soul. The album was produced by ?uestlove of The Roots and features some superb performances by Corinne Bailey Ray, Anthony Hamilton and John Legend. In short, the album is everything that is missing from modern R&B.
