Sarah McLachlan is back with her first studio album in seven years. In those seven years she gave birth to her second daughter and divorced her husband. McLachlan claims that her albums always tend to be an emotional postcard of where she is in her life. Songs like the upbeat “Loving You is Easy” seem to disprove that point, while songs like the painful “Illusion Of Bliss” drive it home. “Laws of Illusion” is still a far cry from the feeling of McLachlan’s earlier albums, but it leans more towards her older sound than her last album.
