Standouts - “Human of the Year,” “Two Birds,” “One More Time with Feeling”

Regina Spektor’s new album, “Far,” is just another example of the Russian born singer-songwriter’s grasp of pop music and her knack for witty subtleties. Produced by a number of high profile producers, including former Electric Light Orchestra member Jeff Lynne, the fifth studio album has a massive, pristine sound that seems to be evidence of an increased budget. Hardly a transition from her trademark sound, the album is heavily steeped in ultra-catchy pop hooks. Still, “Far” is an excellent addition to Spektor’s increasingly impressive catalogue.
