Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson “Break Up”
Standouts - “Relator,” “I Don’t Know What To Do,” “I Am the Cosmos”

All of the unavoidable comparisons to the Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward “She & Him” album have been made, but “Break Up,” recorded in 2006, has a spirit all its own. While both Johansson and Yorn are known for their somewhat unorthodox approach to music, their collaboration works well here. All songs are Yorn originals, minus the wonderful cover of Chris Bell’s “I Am the Cosmos.” Like all Yorn albums, this one takes a few listens before it begins to stick, but after it does it’s hard to walk away from.
