The magic from the previous “Indiana Jones” movies in not lost in the most recent.

The magic is in the hat. From the moment that familiar brown fedora enters the screen, you’re transported back to the ‘80s and on a blockbuster ride with Dr. Jones and the gang. “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is the fourth installment of the “Indiana Jones” series, and it lives up to the standard set by the earlier movies.

If you grew up loving the series, then “The Crystal Skull” is everything you would want from an “Indiana Jones” movie; outrageous action sequences interlaced with good comedic moments and a larger than life plot. But isn’t that what Indiana Jones is all about- just sitting back and enjoying a great, unbelievable action movie?

If you’re afraid that the new movie will not match up to the originals, do not worry. Even though “Crystal Skull” was shot almost 20 years after “The Last Crusade,” the movie’s cinematography is seamless. This film looks and feels like the older movies.

As for Harrison Ford, the large gap between filming “Crusade” and “Crystal Skull” hasn’t hindered his ability to play the hard-hitting, whip-slinging action hero. Newcomer to the series, Shia LaBeouf, proves that he is able to not be overshadowed by Ford. And the rumor mills are already buzzing over the notion of a spin-off for his character, Mutt Williams.

Fans of the “Indiana Jones” series should be greatly satisfied with this long awaited release, while first-timers will no doubt be pulled into the fantastic world that Spielberg and Lucas have created once again.
