Standouts - “Shake Me Like A Monkey,” “Funny The Way It Is,” “Baby Blue”

“Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” the follow up to 2005’s “Stand Up,” was produced by Rob Cavallo (of “American Idiot” fame) and dedicated to the late LeRoi Moore, the group’s saxophonist, who died in 2008 after an ATV accident. While the spirit of Moore’s playing is sadly missing from the album, Jeff Coffin from the Béla Fleck Band has filled in and provides the album with some beautiful sax work. Overall, the album is, without a doubt, the group’s best album in years.

Comments:

I would have to agree with the review except for the fact that the majority of the sax work on the album was from LeRoi’s work in previous sessions.
