“The Weatherman” predicts clear skies and sunny days for Stoll Vaughan.
Stoll Vaughan is a singer/songwriter from Lexington, Ky., who began his career with a band called Chamberlain. He also played banjo and guitar for Rosalin Family Gospel Band, and began his solo career in 2005. His first album was hailed as the “Top Alternative Album of the Year” in the Netherlands, and he toured the US and Europe with such luminaries as John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Def Leppard and Journey.
In 2006, Vaughan released “Love Like A Mule,” his second solo effort, which scored top 10 status on the Americana chart. Now, Vaughan has released “The Weatherman,” another album destined for greatness. The record started in Nashville with his long-time friend Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket) working together in Stoll’s apartment and in a small studio nearby. They recorded 12 songs, and Vaughan was ready to release the record then, but as fate would have it, he was offered the job composing the music for David Lynch’s “Interview Project,” prompting a move to Los Angeles.
At a poker game in the Valley, he met producer/guitarist Carl Restivo (Perry Farrell, Wyclef, Tom Morello), and with the Lynch project coming to an end, began work on a record with Restivo. They’d work on a song at the studio, and when it was sounding great they would proceed down to the Bicycle Casino to play cards for the rest of the night. This went on for months until the record was finished. They got great songs and became decent poker players.
Vaughan picked the best from these two albums and combined them to create “The Weatherman,” a diverse album containing a great mix of rockers, ballads, and pop tunes that define Vaughan’s unique style. One, “Further Down The Line,"”is featured in the Jeff Bridges/Justin Timberlake film “The Open Road.” “The Weatherman” predicts clear skies and sunny days for Stoll Vaughan.

Anyone who’s been around Lexington KY for any length of time in the music scene is familiar with this young man. He is an extraordinary talent. He can do nearly anything from acoustic to great rocking licks. I seen good things in his future!
