Chris Cornell has come a long way since his salad days with Soundgarden. On his third solo album, “Scream,” the ill-conceived love child of Cornell and R&B producer Timbaland, Cornell has done away with all of the heavy guitars and vocal acrobatics that have defined his career thus far, and created an album heavily steeped in electronic drums and loops. “Scream” is not for the old die-hard Cornell fans that came of age in the grunge years, but more likely a major label album destined for the bottom of the bargain bin.
