Ben Folds is a master of self-deprecation. On “Way to Normal,” the follow-up to 2005’s “Songs for Silverman,” Ben Folds kicks off the album with a tune that sounds humorously like “Bennie and the Jets,” that centers on his true-life fall from a Japanese stage. From there, the aging piano rocker sings about his recent divorce and living in a world of decadent luxury. Not his best work, but after a few listens it is certain that there are a definitely some gems on this one.
