Alanis Morissette “Flavors of Entanglement”

Alanis Morissette “Flavors of Entanglement”
Standouts - “Underneath,” “Moratorium,” Tapes”

Alanis Morissette is angry again, and her new album, “Flavors of Entanglement,” is proof.

About half of the album offers slow, angry tunes like “Tapes” which aches with lyrics like “I am someone easy to leave, even easier to forget.” The other half mixes techno beats that are mostly annoying like “Strait Jacket,” which sounds like she’s trying to have a popular dance single, while “Versions of Violence” almost sounds like something off of an Evanescence album.

It’s obvious she’s mad at an ex, presumably Ryan Reynolds and the fact that he’s now engaged to Scarlett Johansson, but she’ll never again measure up to the hatred we all loved in “You Oughta Know.”
