311’s first album in four years marks the longest break the group has ever taken between albums. Produced by Bob Rock, best known for his work with bands like Metallica, “Uplifter” has all the trimmings of a 311 album - some ballads, some heavy hitting, funky tunes. But while “Uplifter” is a solid 311 album, the group is beginning to show their age as they head towards their third decade together. The witticism of their lyrics has begun to slip and they sound like a skipping record at times.
