Eli Vaughan, an Auburn University junior in hotel, restaurant management, is the Auburn EF campus manager for EF College Break.

“I got involved when two members of their road crew came to visit Auburn,” Vaughan said. “I had been looking on their website for a long time, so I decided to talk to them about the possibilities of traveling and/or working with them. My job is to promote the company, generate travel interest on campus and help people sign up for the perfect trip for them.”

The company, originally based in Sweden, began vacationing in 1965, and has since then become the largest student travel organization. EF offers trips to every location in Europe, plus Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. They completely organize the trips and offer packages that travel to multiple countries for a long period of time, or just a few or even one country for a shorter period.

“It’s really nice because they travel when it’s convenient for students,” Vaughan said. “They travel during Christmas break for a New Year's trip, in the spring for spring break trips and all summer.”

EF’s trips range from 10-35 days and are only offered to individuals between the ages of 18 and 26. One of their upcoming trips is a 10-day vacation to Berlin, Prague and Munich. They depart on Dec. 27 to celebrate the new year abroad.

Vaughan explained that the benefits for working for EF are huge. In addition to traveling on her own to Australia, Costa Rica, Italy, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany, Vaughan could win a free trip around the world provided that she successfully promotes a certain amount of trips.

“My next big endeavor is a vacation to Greece this summer through EF,” Vaughan said. “I’m really excited and hope to for some of my friends to attend.”
