As the Super Bowl fast approaches Auburn community members are faced with many decisions. Will there be Super Bowl events at venues in Auburn? Where should I watch the game? And, of course, whom should I pick as the champions of Super Bowl 43?

Well I can't tell you who will win, but I can tell you this game will be full of excitement. The two ironclad teams competing for this year’s title are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are the underdog here- having never been to the Super Bowl. Most are picking the Steelers to win who currently have the best regular season record (tied with the Colts, but are in a less competitive division). In the Super Bowl, Pittsburgh is favored by one touchdown.

The Steelers head-honcho is stud quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger is one of the most gifted players in the country and has a superb touch as a quarterback and leader.

Auburn opinions though beg to differ. Senior Auburn student Greg Smith feels that Roethlisberger is overrated.

"If Roethlisberger didn't have a good offense he wouldn't have half the record he has now, he's got an incredible offensive line," says Smith.

On the other hand, the Cardinals, whose record's good but not outstanding, have surprised audiences in the playoffs by defeating some of the more prestigious teams in the league.

The Cardinals are lead by quarterback Kurt Warner who has a wrap for being a good guy- not to mention a Super Bowl under his belt with his previous team the St. Louis Rams.

The Cardinals wide receiver, number 11 Larry Fitzgerald, will be a vital asset in the game as well. Fitzgerald's record speaks for itself with 1431 receiving yards, on average 89.4 per game.

Auburn student Kenneth Adams says that Fitzgerald will determine a lot for the Cardinals on Sunday.

"He's arguably the best player in the country right now," says Adams.

After polling community members they admit to be excited to see the outcome of Sunday's game. Some feel it can be considered one of those age-old stories of David and Goliath. Not good and evil, but a battle of major talent verses the underestimated. In Auburn, people are full of differing opinions regarding the end results.

Majority of students are predicting the Steelers to win, but hoping for the opposite. A few, mostly girls, truly believe the Cardinals will pull through. As a whole it seems as if the community is siding with the underdog.

"The Steelers will probably win," says Adams, "I mean, I hope the Cardinals win, but I think the Steelers will."

So now that we have some insight on the game, where should we go to watch it?

In and around the Auburn area there are a few major venues hosting Super Bowl events. Bar 51, Fat Daddy's and the Super Club will all be having Super Bowl parties. After paneling several students at Auburn University, many say they will attend.

The doors for all three events will open at 4 pm and close at 2 am.

Other students, however, are hosting more traditional Super Bowl parties at their houses and apartments, the old fashioned way. Offering to their guests’ chips and salsa, beer, nachos, pizza and a multitude of other unhealthy snack options.

But wherever you chose to be Sunday night, make sure you’re tuned in to this game. After all, the Super Bowl has become an American tradition and one which the community of Auburn is certainly part of.
