High Fives For Hope, Inc. (HF4H) is coming downtown to Quixotes Tuesday, Aug. 31st for their first fundraiser in Auburn. Quixotes will offer $1 tacos, $2 Mexican beer for everyone and $1 draft to those who give a voluntary $5 donation at the door.

The event will also include a taco eating contest and live music with Matt Kooken. The doors and kitchen open at 5 p.m. with the event beginning around 5:30 or 6 p.m.

Ryan Shinnick, a friend of the president of HF4H, is helping organize the event. He said that he feels that using a bar for a fundraiser is a good way to get students to come support the cause.

“We couldn’t do it without the bar,” Shinnick said. “They’re giving us $1 drafts with a $5 donation, so they are helping us make it possible.”

Aaron Barber, owner of Quixotes, said that the bar is also donating some of the proceeds from the taco eating contest as well as a percentage of their sales from the entire night to the cause. The band is donating their time to the event by giving the proceeds they would normally make to HF4H, according to Barber.

"We are expecting to have a good Tuesday night for the event,” Barber said. "We're all excited about it."

HF4H is a nonprofit organization seeking to raise awareness and fight testicular, colorectal and leukemia cancers. HF4H wants to bring awareness to forms of cancer that are often overshadowed by the overwhelming support given to other forms, such as breast cancer, Shinnick said.
