ABC’s hit show, “The Bachelor,” redefines itself every season with what seem to be the most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in the states. The 14th season is no different with pilot Jake Pavelka. The term, “eye candy” comes quickly to mind when Jake flashes his pearly whites before he rides into the sunset on his motorcycle. However, Jake can’t melt away the media attention with his charm and smile like he does the hearts of the women on the show, and nearly every other girl that watches.

With each rose ceremony, tension mounts between Jake and the women, and the women with each other. Vienna has been the least favorite among the others since the beginning, due equally to Jake’s attraction to her and her possession over Jake.

Rozlyn created quite the scandal early in the season after being accused of having “an inappropriate relationship with a producer.” Even though she denies any relationship with said producer more than friends, Rozlyn was granted an early dismissal from the show.

Ali’s time on “The Bachelor” came to a screeching halt when she was left to decide between remaining on the show and chancing a heartbreak at the end, or keeping the job she loved. Despite her attempts to convince Jake to ask her back, Ali remains out of the picture.

Now, viewers can’t seem to see how Jake has eliminated all but two completely polar opposite women, one of which is assumed to end up with a ring on her finger come the season finale in just a few days.

According to the sneak peak, Jake said, “I’ve never been in a situation where I don’t have clarity on one side or another…my heart is leading me to both women.”

It’s OK Jake, just smile and eliminate, it’s worked for the whole season.

So, will he choose the naive divorcee Tenley or the calendar-posing ex-party girl Vienna?

Jake described Vienna as, “the life of the party. She’s very blunt and honest about her intentions. She’s intense.”

Even though Tenley performed a self-choreographed dance for Jake during her hometown visit, his attitude towards her seems more friendly than romantic. It was painfully awkward to see Jake watch Tenley dance to a wedding march song after their relationship has progressed so slowly.

“I don’t think there’s any situation you could put Tenley in that she couldn’t find the positive in and have such a great time,” said Jake, sounding a bit like a brother describing his little sister.
Ultimately, why is the attitude towards Vienna so negative? Is it because we cringe to see a self-proclaimed “princess” get what she wants or is it her possessive attitude toward Jake and obvious jealousy of the other girls?

We may just have to bite the bullet and watch as Jake slides the diamond ring on one over-deserved or under-deserved finger.

Lauren Riegle, a junior in Finance at Auburn University, watches the show every Monday with her friends. She puts the general consensus into words.

“Compared to other bachelors, (Jake) is definitely a keeper,” said Riegle. “He is just picking the wrong girls!”

Elizabeth Osborn, a counseling and psychology graduate student, isn’t too keen on Jake’s decisions either.

“I think he’s a bad judge of character,” said Osborn. “I feel like Vienna is just putting on a front for Jake and he can’t see through it.”

Another twist, perhaps? Why does Ali still have such a strong presence in the show, displayed by the thick chemistry between Jake and her on the most recent “Women Tell All” episode? Or have the spoilers ruined it for you already? I guess we’ll all know for sure on Monday at 7 p.m.!

Strange Fact:
Did you know: Jake played Young Cordell Walker in a “Walker, Texas Ranger” episode in 1999?
