Go see “American Gangster” today

I caught a sold-out show of “American Gangster” at the Carmike last night, and all I can say is WOW.  If you haven’t already, you MUST see this movie on a big screen.  This is one of those rare films that critics and real people can agree upon.  The mostly-true-story is complex and thought-provoking, the acting is dead-on, and the cinematography and wardrobe are convincing.  And as gritty as the subject-matter is, the movie never gets all “Requium for a Dream”-depressing on ya.  (Although, I still love that one.)  DO remember to get an overpriced snack or eat before you come, because this movie is long.  My stomach started growling right around hour two.  But that’s beside the point.  By far “American Gangster” is the year’s best film.
